About
Krishna Pillutla is an assistant professor and the Narayanan Family Foundation Fellow at the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI at IIT Madras in India. His work lies at the intersection of theory and practice of machine learning & AI, focusing on privacy-preserving and robust learning/inference of LLMs and generative AI.
He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Washington, M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University, and B.Tech. from IIT Bombay, and spent time in the industry AI research labs of Google and Meta.
Krishna’s research has been recognized by an AI2050 Early Career Fellowship by Schmidt Sciences (2025), NeurIPS outstanding paper award (2021), a JP Morgan Ph.D. fellowship (2019-20), and two Honourable Mentions for the American Statistical Association (ASA) Student Paper Award.
